Instructions:

  1. Begin by preparing the Jello mix according to the package instructions. Depending on the size of your container, you may need to use multiple boxes of Jello mix. (I used plastic shoe boxes)

  2. Once the Jello mix is prepared, pour it into the plastic bin or container.

  3. Add in the rubber ducks, frogs, rocks, and anything else to create a pond-like environment.

  4. Place the bin or container in the refrigerator to set.

  5. I added a few more pond themed items on top of the set jello to make it look even more like a pond.
Provide child-friendly tweezers or tongs for the children to use to pull the toys out of the jello pond. Alternatively, they can use their fingers if preferred.

Encourage the children to explore the different textures and objects in the sensory bin, discussing the colors, shapes, and sizes of the toys they find.

Why You Should Do a Jell-O Pond Themed Sensory Bin:

    • Encourages sensory exploration: The Jello's unique texture provides a fun and stimulating sensory experience for little ones. They can explore the squishy, jiggly, and wiggly sensation of the Jello with their hands or with utensils such as spoons or scoops.

    • Enhances fine motor skills: Playing with the Jello and the other sensory items helps children develop their fine motor skills as they manipulate the objects in the bin. They can practice scooping, pouring, and grasping objects with their hands.

    • Promotes imaginative play: The pond theme provides opportunities for imaginative play as children can play "pond rescue" by using the toys to "save" each frog or ducky from the jello pond.
